MONTHLY CRIME FIGURES SPELLED OUT BY WARDEN<IMG alt=Crime hspace=25 src="http://www.localrags.org/images/policebadge.jpg" align=left vspace=20 border=1>

<FONT size=2><FONT face=Arial color=black>Community Warden Ian Norman reporting to the Hawkinge Parish Council told members <FONT face=Arial color=black>there were 39 reported crimes in the village in the past month. This means o­n average there was more than o­ne crime a day committed.

Mr Norman said that there were19 reports of criminal damage, 7 of damage to vehicles and 2 of taking motor vehicles without consent.

Seven thefts were also reported and there was o­ne burglary.

Drugs related offences included two of supplying and totalled three.

There were also four assaults, including o­ne o­n a police officer, and o­ne threat to kill.

Community Warden Norman advised villagers to report all incidences of crime so that the police had an accurate picture of crime in the area and could deploy their resources accordingly.

He also reminded parishioners that he holds a monthly surgery in the Community Centre along with PC Steve Ivory and representatives from both the parish and district councils. So far o­nly three people have turned up to discuss their concerns and he would like to see more.
