GET WALKING THIS SUMMER

Everyone can get out and enjoy the delights of Kent's countryside and coast this summer.

Kent County Council has just published a second pack called Walks for all in Kent and Medway featuring eight walks ranging from 0.45 mile (0.7 kilometres) to 7.4 miles (12 km). Each route has been carefully chosen to provide access for disabled people, parents with pushchairs and people with visual impairments or restricted mobility.

Most are on well-surfaced paths, though some are more challenging. The pack gives clear, coloured route maps and descriptions that show the surface types, slopes and facilities available at each site.

The walks are at Beacon Wood country park between Dartford and Gravesend, Camer country park near Meopham, along the Medway and Thames estuary at Grain, from Minnis Bay at Birchington to Reculver, beside the Royal Military Canal at Hythe, through Hamstreet woods near Ashford, Hemsted Forest near Benenden and from Tonbridge to Haysden.

Copies of the Walks for all pack are available from KCC Access Development Team on (01622) 221526, by emailing walkkent@kent.gov.uk or via www.kent.gov.uk/countrysideaccess. Alternately, contact the sportslink project on (01622) 605052 or via www.kentsport.org/disability_sportslink.html
