Ferry operator SeaFrance is suspending all journeys between Dover and Calais until Thursday morning.

The company took the decision after the announcement of a 48-hour strike in France, but P&O Ferries are expected to operate as normal.

Customers with reservations on SeaFrance crossings for Tuesday and Wednesday should contact the company.

Yesterday (21 March), SeaFrance workers protesting against a plan to reform the French national register for shipping, invaded high-speed rail lines near Calais  and caused delays to Eurostar services.

Sailors' unions say the changes are a threat to French jobs.
