A Maidstone man has pledged to personally double whatever he raises through a sponsored run on behalf of Demelza Hospice Care for Children.

... 10K run at Groombridge Place in Tunbridge Wells .....

Steve Brewer, a Financial Director at Swale Heating, will take part in the 10K run at Groombridge Place in Tunbridge Wells on 12 June and hopes colleagues and friends will help him hit his £500 target.

“Everyone at the company is really supportive of Demelza Hospice so I’m optimistic lots of colleagues will sponsor me. But I’ve also promised to match the final total so we could see around £1,000 going to the charity,” he says.

“I know other people at Swale Heating who are involved in fundraising for Demelza Hospice so I wanted to make my own effort count.”

Steve, from Grove Green, is a regular squash player and trains at the gym so he is confident of a sub-hour run. He has only one concern.

“I’m trying to persuade my sister to take part as well. But she’s a personal trainer so I suspect she’ll shoot ahead of me. Not that there’s any sibling rivalry but I wouldn’t want her to thrash me!”

Swale Heating supports Demelza Hospice by providing heating services free of charge and using the charity’s logo in its TV ads and on its van to raise awareness.
