Man arrested over abuse on a family and assault on girl in Canterbury

Police investigating an incident in which a man was reported to have been verbally abusive to a family in Canterbury have arrested a man.



The arrest follows two incidents in Canterbury on 9 May


The incident is reported to have taken place on the footbridge over the River Stour at Whitehall Road at 6.30pm on Monday 9 May.

Assault and public order

A 19-year-old man from the Canterbury area has been arrested on suspicion of a public order offence.

He has also been arrested on suspicion of assault, following an incident in which a 13-year-old girl was assaulted in St Radigund’s Street, Canterbury, on 9 May.

The man has been bailed until 30 July while enquiries continue.
