Can you help Diocese of Canterbury appeal for Community Hall Fund in Reculver?

Progress on plans to build a Community Hall at St Mary’s Church in Reculver have reached a critical stage.

Planning permission for the revised plans is progressing well but potential funding options have changed radically in the last few years and the project, started in 2006, is now under threat.

£35,551 is now needed but the total project will be estimated to cost approximately £700,000.

It’s possible that the project will come in under budget but the church won’t embark on it until it is sure that the full funds can be raised.

Chair of the Friends of St Mary, Judy Challis, says, “Unfortunately, funding streams have changed since the project began, which means that some grants are no longer available to us. Also the money we hoped to get from developers of a proposed housing development in our parish has been delayed and may not appear.

"We have a vision of creating a fantastic space for the community, a place where people who are lonely or isolated can meet for coffee and support, a space for children and their carers. But it can only become a reality if we find significant funds. We would be hugely grateful to anyone who wants to donate to the appeal.”
