12 fire engines battle Morrisons supermarket blaze in Folkestone

Kent Fire and Rescue Service is battling a large fire in a Morrisons store in Cheriton Way, Folkestone.


KFRS report there are currently 12 fire engines, two height vehicles and a command support unit on the scene of the blaze which began at around 7.30 this morning, 8 November.

It is understood the fire started in a deep fat fryer in the kitchen of the cafe and quickly spread to the roof.

The store had been open for half and hour. There are no reports of any casualties.

People living and working nearby are being advised to close windows and doors due to smoke in the area.

The roof of the building, which is approximately 80m x 60m in size, is reported to have collapsed.
