A brown Louis Vuitton handbag containing a mobile phone, a pair of sunglasses, bank cards and a set of car keys for a blue Audi Quattro were taken, before the car itself was stolen, during a burglary in Canterbury.

Burglars broke into a house in Old Dover Road at 1.30am on Tuesday 4 December 2018

The car is believed to have headed towards the A2, said Detective Constable Rob Goodban. ‘We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the burglary or has information that could help our enquiries to contact us,’ he said.

‘We are also encouraging people to protect themselves against car key burglars by making sure keys, cash and expensive items are not visible from the outside of their homes.’

Double-locking uPVC doors and windows, using timer switches on lights and radios to make it look as though someone is home and keeping garden gates locked and garden boundaries secure are other ways in which people can protect themselves against opportunist thieves.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to phone Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting reference number 46/17352/18.

Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers in Kent anonymously on 0800 555111.
