Woman charged with attempted murder after pensioner suffers stab wounds at address in Bekesbourne Lane, Canterbury

Kent Police report that a 49-year-old suspect of an attempted murder in Canterbury is due to appear in court.

Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate launched an investigation after a woman in her 70s was found with serious injuries at a property in Bekesbourne Lane, Canterbury on Monday 12 August 2019.

Officers were called to the address at around 11.20pm where the victim reported being assaulted by a person known to her.

She suffered injuries consistent with stab wounds and was airlifted to a London hospital, where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

Patrols located a 49-year-old woman nearby in Littlebourne Road and arrested her in connection with the incident.

On Tuesday 13 August 2019 the Crown Prosecution Service authorised a charge of attempted murder against a woman in Canterbury.

She has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 14 August 2019.
