The incident took place overnight between Monday 10 February and Tuesday 11 February 2020 in Millstrood Road.

A property was broken into before car keys were stolen and two vehicles taken from the driveway.

Officers are also investigating an incident where a man was reported to have broken into a house in nearby Grimthorpe Avenue at 2.30am on Tuesday 11 February.

Nothing was stolen during that incident and a man in dark clothing was seen getting into a small black car.

Enquiries into both incidents are ongoing and police are appealing for information and warning homeowners to keep their car keys out of view.

Detective Constable Mark Hunter said: ‘We are reminding residents to remove keys, cash and other expensive items from view in their homes.

‘Car owners with electronic car keys should use a signal blocking pouch so the keys can't be scanned by criminals.

‘If you see anything suspicious or believe someone may have tried to steal from your car, report it to Kent Police by calling 101, or 999 if a crime is in progress, or online via www.kent.police.uk
