Proposed by Councillor J Heasman

Seconded by Councillor B Fletcher and

RESOLVED:

1. To receive and note the letter dated 13 September 2011 from Damian Collins.

2. To not support in principle the proposed changes to the Parliamentary Constituency Boundaries on the following grounds;

Logistically North Downs East should remain part of the Folkestone and Hythe Parliamentary Constituency as it has very strong transport links with Folkestone but not with Dover.
Folkestone Secondary Schools service the ward of North Downs East.
To recommend that Saxon Shore be returned to Ashford and North Downs East remain in Folkestone and Hythe.
Parish Council would be disadvantaged as media and political links are with Folkestone.
The recently submitted Core Strategy for the period up to 2026 includes Hawkinge for infrastructure and planning purposes.
The costs of implementing these changes would be detrimental and unnecessary.
