The popular Folkestone Road Community Hub will reopen on 14 September 2017 with a barbeque for all the community from 5.30pm.

The Community Hub, which is reopening after a summer break, is held on Thursdays from 5.30pm to 7.30pm in the Clarendon and Westbury Hall, Belgrave Road, Dover.

Residents can access information and advice from a variety of agencies that come to the hub, and take part in fun activities for young people and their families.

There is also a Youth Hub at St Martin's Church Hall, Church Road, Dover on Thursdays from 6pm to 8pm, open to young people aged 11-19 years.

Activities are arranged by Pie Factory Music and include music, art, dance and sports.

The Community Hub was set up with funding from the Kent Police and Crime Commissioner and has received money from the Port of Dover Community Fund, and is led by the Dover District Community Safety Partnership (CSP) and Dover-based charity Samphire.

The aims of the hubs are to build positive relationships between communities and local services, engage young people in community activities, and improve the wellbeing of local families.

The hub has organised a number of activities this year, including exploring the Western Heights with the White Cliffs Countryside Partnership, learning to cook healthy meals, and teaching children about recycling.

Cllr Keith Morris, Chairman of the Dover District Community Safety Partnership, said: “We are very pleased to see the Community Hub reopening after the summer break.”

Indre Lechtimiakyte from Samphire said: “We want to invite everyone in the community around the Folkestone Road area along to the Community Hub. It is the perfect chance for people to get to know their neighbours and for us all to work together to address community needs and celebrate community diversity.”
