The latest steam hauled excursion through Kent is due to stop in Folkestone next Saturday 26th October with lead locomotive of the class 70000 'Britannia' running as 70014 'Iron Duke' along with a 'Golden Arrow' service headboard. Updated water stop Folkestone West/ Paddock Wood - check website

The excursion is operated by Saphos Trains and the 'Golden Arrow' may no doubt bring back many local people's memories of the heyday of the boat trains through Kent to and from Dover or Folkestone.

The train will leave London Vicoria at 1045am and run via Tonbridge and Ashford Intl to arrive Canterbury West at 1320pm.

Passengers will be alighting for a three hour stay in the City.

The return trip is due to depart Canterbury West at 1625pm and run via Minster, Deal, Dover Priory and Folkestone Warren to a 15min or so water-stop at 'Folkestone West' between between 1720 and 1750. (Please check water-stop which may now be at Paddock Wood)

The train will be returning via Ashford International and Tonbridge to London Victoria.

The full timings in both directions will shortly be available via [1]  and clicking on '2019 Tours'- then scroll down.

Info: The 'Golden Arrow' (train):

The original 70014 'Iron Duke' is sadly long lost after the end of the steam era, but photo's of her as a Golden Arrow still exist including one on the turntable at former Folkestone Junction. Click here.
