Investigation reports Dover spike in migrants taking advantage of Channel Tunnel traffic chaos

An investigation carried out by International Business Times UK claims that traffic chaos at the Channel Tunnel, caused by last week's fire, saw a spike in the number of illegal migrants entering the UK through Dover.

The Sunday Express has today reported plans to guarantee a passport check for every passenger and claiming it would throw Britain into chaos after cross-Channel operators revealed the government scheme would cause traffic mayhem and 'essentially shut the country down'.

Writing on his blog, Folkestone and Hythe MP Damian Collins is critical of the Hotel Grand Burstin being used to accommodate asylum seekers but a Home Office Minister has laid the blame on 'contractors' for the immigrants staying at the 550 room hotel.
