Railway pioneer, Colonel Holman Fred Stephens was born on 31st October 1868 and the society bearing his name will be celebrating the 150th anniversary of his birth  next year.

Having visited East Kent Railway's final season event day, 40 Shillings Day in 2016, visitor numbers this looked even higher than last years busy day.

The Bure Valley Railway is the same gauge as the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway (RDHR) in Kent and on occasions there are reciprocal visits of each railway's locomotives.

On a sunny Sunday chaos seemed threatened as a freight train failure held up the first train out of Sittingbourne Viaduct Station.
