As Coastwatch Folkestone celebrated its 15th anniversary last week at a dinner at the Folkestone Bowls Club, incoming Station Manager John Keeble referred to the nomadic existence of earlier days as lookouts either went over the cliff, froze volunteers to death, or seemed ready to despatch members to the local container port in a portakabin.

Eurotunnel will be stopped from operating ferry services at the port of Dover, after the Competition Commission (CC) decided that its acquisition of three ferries and other assets from the former ferry operator, SeaFrance, could mean higher prices for cross-Channel passengers and freight customers.
