Merchant Navy Day in Dover is being marked with a service at Dover Town Hall on Wednesday 3 September from 10.30am, followed by a wreath laying ceremony on Dover seafront.

After a long-running battle, the Competition and Market Authority (CMA) ruled last month that the Dover-Calais ferry operation, owned by Eurotunnel, must be stopped within six months but the company has now appealled against the decision.

Following confirmation by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to uphold its decision made last year to ban the MyFerryLink's two ferries,  from the port of Dover for ten years, it's reported to have brought a strong reaction from Eurotunnel.
