Folkestone and Hythe council prepare for one in two-hundred year super storm

More than 120,000 tonnes of shingle is being moved on Shepway beaches to keep the area protected from flooding.

The beaches provide vital protection for what is known in a one-in-200-year storm – a storm so bad it only occurs on average once every 200 years.

Kent Police is appealing for witnesses after an alleged stabbing was reported in Ashford.

The incident is reported to have taken place in Oak Tree Road shortly before 10.20pm on Monday 16 April 2018.

Police in Ramsgate appeal for witnesses after man is smashed over the head with pool cue

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to an assault in Ramsgate which saw a man needing hospital treatment after sustaining head injuries following an incident in a local pub.

It was reported that at around 7.30pm on Thursday 12 April the victim, a man in his 40s, was in the Earl St Vincent pub in King Street when he was hit over the head with a pool cue.





Man in court over Dover village burglary in Elms Hill

Officers investigating a burglary at a house in Elms Hill, Hougham, have charged a man.

The 26-year-old of no fixed address, was arrested by officers from Dover Community Policing Team in Bench Street, Dover, on Saturday 14 April 2018.

A major new free exhibition opens at Dover Museum on Saturday (21 April) to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Zeebrugge Raid.

The exhibition complements a range of special events being organised by Dover Town Council on Monday, 23 April 2018 to commemorate the centenary of the Zeebrugge Raid.






Dover shelves parking charges increase

After a public consultation Dover District Council’s Cabinet has reviewed proposals for Sunday parking charges and decided to defer plans to extend Sunday parking charges to 11 out of the 12 car parks being considered.

Dover is the only council in East Kent that does not currently charge for parking in the majority of its town car parks on Sundays, which is now the second busiest shopping day of the week.



 


Victims urged to come forward as Kent Police back Stalking Awareness Week

Kent Police is supporting a national campaign to raise awareness of stalking.

 

The awareness event will run between Monday, 16 April and Friday, 20 April 2018 and aims to highlight the issue of stalking and the effect that it has on people.

 


Man in sixties mugged near Folkestone shopping centre

A man has reportedly been robbed near to the Bouverie Place Shopping Centre in Folkestone.

Officers investigating a report of a robbery have arrested a 19-year-old man.

 


Elderly man loses his iPad to 'cynical' doorstep burglar in Herne Bay

Kent Police is investigating a report of a distraction burglary in Herne Bay in which a tablet computer was stolen.

A man called on the elderly victim at his home in The Broadway area of the town at around 11am on Thursday 12 April 2018.
